News and Events

Keep up to date with whats happening at McNeillstown, the Portglenone District as well as the wider Institution. Plan to attend and find out more. Reports and articles on past events will follow with multi-media news feeds. This section will also give us a chance to make our voice heard on issues of importance and current affairs.

newsandOur events section will give details of upcoming events and a little of the history and significance of them. For example many are related to celebrations or commemorations of the past, such as the Fifth of November marking the Gunpowder Plot and the Landing of William of Orange. Others have a religious significance which we view as part of our faith and practice. We are aware that many today find these events difficult to understand and we are happy to explain their general significance and why they are important to us.

The news section covers issues that are important to our members, either as individuals or as a lodge. We often take a stance on an issue and use the site as the means to both promote and explain it. Our principles dictate that we support certain causes or oppose others and we beleive that the freedom of faith, thought and word which we defend

Each year we run or support a range of activities and as our membership grows we hope to be involved in an expanding list of activities. The aim of the site is to to keep members up to date with upcoming events, to encourage them to get involved and also to show to a wider audience just what we are about.

The site will also allow virtual participation, giving us a world wide audience. For too long we have met behind closed doors allowing our critics to make false allegations of being a secret society and to infer we had something to hide. Nothing could be further from the truth we are a very public organisation which just like any other has a constitution which dictates our membership and like any other body today we have certain data protection obligations. Every organisation, whether it be a church, police force, business or charity conducts its business in private, we are no different and are subject to the same legal scrutiny as any other.

However because we have a faith we believe we must share, a history we are proud to celebrate and a culture we most publicly display we are the most open of organisations in what we do. To this end please follow us on face book and twitter, and learn more from our site. They are all   open forums for debate and discussion and we will endeavor to answer any genuine questions people have.
